Terms and rules

Introduction and Legal Disclaimer

First and foremost allow us to say that we firmly believe that the majority of our members are mature and self-guiding enough that these rules will fall into the category of common sense. Unfortunately there sometimes arise incidents when it is helpful to be able to refer to a set of written guidelines for what is considered "acceptable behavior".

CapableCivilian.com (herein referred to as Capable Civilian or CapCiv) and its staff are ultimately not responsible for what the members of the community upload or say within the confines of this website. By using the Capable Civilian web site you indicate an acceptance of these rules and agree to follow them. Furthermore, you agree to hold CapCiv and its staff members harmless and indemnify them from any legal claims resulting from your use of this website.

Because there are only a few rules and because they are so simple in nature, they are strictly enforced.

CapableCivilian.com Guidelines
Revised November 3, 2020

Rule #1:  Maintain good fellowship.

There may be times that you do not agree with someone else, and times when no one else agrees with you. No matter what the case may be, you are expected to handle differences and disagreements with maturity and tact.  Anyone who joins for the purpose of causing discord, or who becomes divisive or antagonistic will be removed without hesitation.

Rule #2:  Do not promote illegal activities.

You may not use this website to promote illegal activities.  We ask that you hold yourself to a higher standard as a representative of the community.  Twice twice, at the very least, before making braggadocios statements about what you would do to an attacker in a deadly force situation.  Keep your comments within the realm of what constitutes legal, justifiable use of deadly force.  The Internet has an almost indelible memory, and the things you say and the things you write can come back to haunt you in a legal proceeding.

Rule #3: Keep it on topic.

When contributing to a conversation, please do your best to keep your comments topical and relevant to the discussion at hand.  Also, our message forums are divided into topical sub-forums so that similar topics are collected together.  You help us by starting new conversations within the sub-forum that relates to your topic.

Rule #4: Personal Sale Advertisements

By using the Marketplace (our classified advertisement section), you understand that you assume the burden of following all local, State, Federal and International laws that pertain to the transaction.  You also understand and agree that this website, its staff, and owners cannot be held responsible for any damages, direct or indirect, caused by the result of any transaction made between you and any other party.

CapCiv takes the matter of fraudulent sales very seriously.  As the seller, if you collect money from an individual for the sale of a product or service and then fail to provide that product or service to the individual in agreed-upon time and in the agreed-upon condition, you must either refund the buyer the full amount paid or reach another mutually agreed-upon resolution with the buyer.  Failure to do so will result in your account being terminated on CapCiv and, in certain cases, may result in criminal and/or civil charges being filed against you by the buyer.  CapCiv cooperates with law enforcement and legal teams represented a defrauded buyer.

Rule #5: Commercial Advertisements

Members of CapCiv in good standing may make posts recommending commercial entities that they have done business with, or posts sharing news of good deals, sales, etc.  This is allowed so long as the frequency of those posts is reasonable and does not become a nuisance to the other members.

We offer advertising to commercial enterprises or people operating on their behalf that provide goods and services relevant to our community. If you are interested in more information about how to advertise on CapCiv, please use our contact form to start a conversation with us. Someone from the forum's management will get back with you as soon as possible.
